The artists that make up the Eclectic Divas Collaborative have dedicated themselves to creating art that is fertile with depth, character, and passion. At times this art addresses painful emotions, taboo subjects, and commonly unexpressed or unacceptable subjects. We are often asked why much of our subject matter is dark or “ugly”. We are not creating “pretty art” for the sake of creating art... subject matter that may be widely accepted and easily sold, we instead strive to create that which It is in our power to devote ourselves to infamous purposes (the fearless creation of art), and we will therefore continue to do so even in the face of adversity.

Bordello: A house of prostitution. What is in a name? By shedding traditional and most common precepts of this word and putting it in a different context, the definition given by Oxford potentially takes on a new meaning. Consider the following definition of prostitution; The act of setting one's self to sale, or of devoting to infamous purposes what is in one's power. In drawing together this collective of women artists who have “devoted (themselves) to infamous purposes” we have, in essence, appropriated a new meaning for both Bordello and prostitution. We believe in grassroots community programs to help teach at-risk children about art, thus educating them as well as providing a creative outlet for their frustrations and angst. We believe that involvement with these programs helps reduce juvenile crime in our community, which is why we donate 10% of all art sales to local programs.
